Tracy Moore, Albuquerque, N.M.: What is it with the local media that they hate the Cowboys? Example, local reporter on ESPN show Around The Horn, the writer out of Dallas, always puts down the Cowboys as the ones out of Boston always talk up the Boston teams even if they cheat to win. Is this because they are Northerners who just come here and ride the Cowboys coattails to get someone to listen to them? Scatter shooting, wondering if I could borrow Blackie Sherrod's shotgun to run these guys and gals out of the Metroplex?

Mickey: Well, your intensity mixed with humor at least put a smile on my face. Hate to inform you, but the reporter I figure you’re referring to is actually from the Dallas area, so no, that can’t be it. And be careful now, I’m originally one of those so-called “Northerners.” There is this new philosophy in the media that if you are being hard on the local team, then that means you are being objective. But just what if being overly tough also means you are wrong? Is that OK? Look, no one keeps score anymore for opinions being accurate. These news outlets just want opinions to get the attention of readers and listeners. It’s the new age. Just filter out what you know is inaccurate and move on is all I can say. And I hope Blackie has sold all his shotguns at his age.

Rodolfo J. Mena, Houston: Do you think this team deserves better coaches, especially a good offensive coordinator? When will Jerry Jones hire a good one and not only his friends?

Mickey: So Rodolfo, you mean Jason Garrett, that offensive coordinator? The one whose offensive has put up 34 and 31 points in the first two games? Did you realize the 65 points the Cowboys have scored in two games ranks third in the NFL, and you’re telling me it’s time to get rid of Jason Garrett – the same offensive coordinator who led this offense in 2007 to unprecedented offensive numbers, including quarterback Tony Romo throwing for more yards in a single season than any Cowboys quarterback in the team’s 50-year history? Surely you jest.

No One Gets You Closer to the Cowboys!
