R. Preston, Waldorf, MD: Why doesn’t Jason Garrett do something about his blocking schemes so they can gain more running yards? His blocking schemes stink to high heaven. He should make his offense do more hurry up offense because they have no sense of urgency and they need to have a sense of urgency any way. Why is Garrett SO predictable in his calls anyway? Put a little spice in his play callings.
Mickey: Well, I gather you are not a big fan of Jason Garrett. Now I understand you would like the Cowboys to score more than the 24.4 points a game they are after five games. But did you realize when it comes to gaining yards the Cowboys are the No. 1 offense in the NFL, averaging more yards than any other team? Not sure everything stinks as high as you seem to think. They just need to be more efficient in the red zone and quit making so many untimely penalties to stall out drives. As for me, I think he puts too much spice in his play calling, and should scale back and make sure what the Cowboys do they do well instead of doing a lot of things rather average.
Kevin, Chesapeake, VA: After a much needed bye week, do you see any changes on offense now that they have named Miles Austin starting at wide receiver? Also, any injury updates on Roy Williams and Felix Jones?
Mickey: Not significant changes on the offense, although if the Cowboys are blocking well you might see a few more deep posts if the safeties are cooperating – meaning the Cowboys are running the ball so well the defense has to bring an eighth man into the box. As for the injuries, Roy said Thursday he’s 100 percent, that he’s in for Sunday’s game against Atlanta. Head coach Wade Phillips and owner Jerry Jones said Felix is likely to play, and Felix said he seems to be getting better each day. He likely will have to play with a brace on his left knee, but appears like he should be able to contribute.
Jerry Smith, Fort Smith, AR: This is more like a request than a question: I was just wondering if next time you spoke with Jerry Jones you would tell him for me I think the new stadium is nice and all but since now I really can't afford to take my grandkids to the game and actually sit down and enjoy it I would much more rather we had stayed at Texas Stadium.
Mickey: You know Jerry, I’m about to talk with him in 10 minutes, so I’ll be sure to deliver your message. Now look, I’m not sure what tickets are available for the remainder of the games, but there are affordable seats at this stadium if you don’t have to pay for a season ticket seat license fee. The individual seats that aren’t the primo club seats don’t cost much more at face value than they did at Texas Stadium in the last couple of years.
