Jeff Anderson, Leander, TX: Let me try to put this into perspective: It is a crying shame we have to get on our knees and thank God Almighty the lowly Redskins have two key players out injured just so we have a hope and a prayer to win. What happened to the good old days when it didn't matter who we were up against? Where are the days of Jimmy Johnson saying, “How Bout Them Cowboys!" It shouldn't matter who is across from the Boys when the coin is tossed. We should know we are going to win before the coin even hits the ground. I'll say it again, deep sigh, breath of relief because they have two of their marquee players out. What does that say about us?

Mickey: That the Cowboys are 7-3, with a one-game lead in the NFC East over the Eagles and Giants, and that they didn’t lose to the Redskins like Denver did, nor did they lose to the Chiefs like the Steelers did and that they still have a chance to beat the Raiders on Thanksgiving, something the supposedly rampaging Bengals don’t have anymore. And about the good, old days, well look, they are good and gone. This is a new era, and while you would love to walk through every game, that’s not possible over 16 games. I see where in 1970, the last time the Cowboys scored no more than seven points to win a game – 6-2 over the Cleveland Browns – they advanced to the Super Bowl. So who knows? One game at a time there Jeff, and let’s see where things wind up. And by the way, in 1992, I see where the Cowboys lost 27-23 to the LA Rams, who finished 6-10 that year. I also see that in the 12-4 1993 season they lost to the 6-10 Atlanta Falcons and had to go into overtime in the final game of the season to beat the Giants to claim the NFC East. Hmmm. And one more point, in 1995, I see where the Cowboys lost to the 6-10 Redskins TWICE. Good gosh, you know.

Kevin Kelley, Somerset, NJ: Do you think that not only the national media, but an increasing group of Cowboys fans are longing for the dominate style offenses of Super Bowls past? If I remember correctly, those teams had incredible defenses to go along with them. Doomsday in the 80`s and people tend to quickly forget during the 90`s the Cowboys defense was ranked No. 1 or close to it for those three championships. Jay Ratliff, DeMarcus Ware and Co. have constantly improved since Week 1 and Cowboy fans only seem to care about the lack of style points involved in the outcome. This isn`t a BCS audition. Please remind these "fans" that 7-3 is 7-3 regardless of how you have accomplished it. Because my guess is they`d be a lot less happy if the Cowboys were 5-5 and on our way to the 6-10,7-9 or 8-8 season plenty of the experts predicted we would have.

Mickey: Well Kevin, looks like we have double-teamed those folks. You have reminded them, and I guess so did I above. Yes, the one trend developing over these past eight games seems to be this defense is for real. Not exactly dominate, like Doomsday, but now good enough to prevent anyone from scoring more than 21 points in the past eight games and no more than 17 in the past four, including giving up just six to the Skins and really just 10 to the Packers on the road. Not bad. The goal in the NFL for defenses is to not give up more than 17 points. The Cowboys have accomplished that six times, so not bad. And as long as the defense plays well, as it did against the Redskins, no matter who was playing for them, that gives the Cowboys at least a chance to win each time out.
