Rick Murphy, Louisville, KY: Why haven’t we seen the flea-flicker from the Boys? It was always our money play it’s not like we don’t have the speed receivers to do it. Has our offense become so predictable that no trick plays work and its been three years or better since I can remember seeing it? We’re coming into the tough stretch of the schedule and we need to pull out all cards just to make the playoffs, let alone win a playoff game. What’s your take on it and lookin’ forward to seeing you guys on the road again soon?

Mickey: Well, Rick, not sure I have a good answer for the lack of trick plays or flea-flickers being used. All I know is that without trick plays Tony Romo passed for 392 yards in the 31-24 loss to the Giants, his career high and the fifth most single-game passing yards in club history. Only Troy Aikman and Don Meredith have thrown for more. As for the flea-flicker, you really need to establish a running threat up the middle for that play to work, and the Cowboys established no running threat whatsoever against the Giants, averaging just a shade less than two yards a carry. And until you do so and get defenses preoccupied with stopping the run, a mere handoff up the middle is not going to cause the defenders to overreact so the play works.
