Keith Bethune, Higdon, AL: Do you think Mike Shanahan could be the next coach, and could he get the offense going in the right direction?
Mickey: Well, that sure is hard to say with three games remaining and the Cowboys now 8-5 and just one game out of first place in the NFC East. As you can see, the teams have volleyed around this year in the East. First it was the Giants. Then it was the Cowboys. Now it’s the Eagles. Who’s to say something else won’t change in the final three weeks. Let’s let this whole season play out before we start firing and hiring people.
Thomas Lang, Forth Worth, TX: I was wondering if the Cowboys' head honchos ever consider Mike Shanahan (a back-to-back Super Bowl winner) as head coach? A great team needs a great coach. When are we going to get back to the good old days of legends?
So who is to say this is a great team right now? Yeah, I know what Shanahan’s record is as a head coach, but I also know that it’s not as if Shanahan was leading the Broncos to the Super Bowl every year. In fact, it was two in 14 seasons. And in the last eight seasons in Denver, only once were the Broncos better than 10-6, and seven times in those 14 years the Broncos were no better than 9-7. So don’t assume Shanahan is Magic Man.
